Award of the International Congress of Belarusian Studies 2014 (nomination deadline: March 15, 2014)

The Organizing Committee of the International Congress of Belarusian Studies announces a call for nominations for the 2014 Award for the best publication in the social sciences and humanities.

The Award aims to recognize achievements in the social sciences and humanities over the course of the year, to encourage scholarly work, and to promote the improvement of the quality of scholarly activity.

We invite authors and representatives of the academic community to nominate significant results of scholarly work and thereby help popularize them and reward their authors for scholarly achievements.

Proposals may be submitted to [email protected] by March 15, 2014.

The formal presentation of the Award will take place at the Fourth International Congress of Belarusian Studies, which will be held on October 3-5, 2014.

Nominations:
The Award is announced in three categories:
– Social sciences: political science, sociology.
– Humanities: philosophy, philology, linguistics, art history.
– History.

Publications in law and economics will be considered only if they are interdisciplinary in character and address the issues of the main social science and humanities disciplines.

Starting this year, a separate competition will be held for monographs and articles.

From 2014, the Humanities Award is being merged with the Zora Kipel Award, which was presented by the North American Association for Belarusian Studies.

Both one’s own publications and publications by others may be nominated for the Award.

Procedure:
The decision to grant the Award is made on the basis of the conclusions of expert councils composed of representatives of the academic community of Belarus and other countries: premija_eksperty.pdf (https://palityka.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/premija_eksperty.pdf).

Works published in 2013 will be accepted for consideration, as well as works published in 2012 if they were not nominated during the previous competition.

Main requirements: a text of no less than 20,000 characters (a scholarly article, monograph, or other academic form of presenting research results), written by one or several authors (but under the scholarly editorship of one person).
