Winter Democracy Camp 2024

“Democracy and Technology: Digital Tools and European Values”

(15–21 February 2024, Vilnius, Lithuania)

The Czesław Miłosz Centre of Vytautas Magnus University announces an excellent opportunity for Belarusian students to take part in a winter camp dedicated to digital democracy and civic engagement. An additional call for participants has been opened for the camp, which will take place on 15–21 February at a tourist and health complex near Vilnius (40 km). If you want to develop critical thinking and leadership skills, and to take part in a new learning format, fill in the form above to register. Selected participants will take part in interactive sessions and discussions aimed at:

• the political and social consequences of the spread of digital technologies, as well as opportunities for their positive use;

• identifying and countering coordinated propaganda and manipulative behaviour by states and corporations; opportunities to use digital technologies to strengthen democracy and youth activism;

Participants will also take part in multimedia creative studios (video editing and theatre) focused on leadership, the dissemination of ideas and skills development.

• Belarusian students studying in Lithuania and Poland are invited to participate. Participants must be under 27 years old.

• The working languages of the camp are Belarusian and Russian; the programme and teaching materials have been developed in Belarusian and English.

• Trainers and lecturers at the camp will include lecturers from the University of Copenhagen, Vytautas Magnus University and other Lithuanian research and educational institutions.

• Participation in the camp is free of charge. Accommodation, meals and travel from the meeting point in Vilnius are covered by the organisers. The organisers do not provide visa support. Travel to Vilnius by bus or train may also be reimbursed.

• The camp will conclude with the creation of projects developed by the students. The winning project will be offered consultancy and financial support for implementation.
