The main academic event of 2011: International Congress of Belarusian Studies

(23–25 September 2011, Kaunas, Lithuania)

The International Congress of Belarusian Studies is conceived as a broad academic platform for researchers working on Belarus and the region. It brings together scholars from Belarus and abroad and creates a space for discussion of the most important issues in the humanities and social sciences.

The Congress programme includes panels, round tables, presentations of new publications and discussions of research projects. It is intended to support communication between different academic communities and to strengthen Belarusian studies as an interdisciplinary field.

Researchers in history, political science, sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, linguistics, literature, economics and related disciplines are invited to participate. Particular attention is given to new research, comparative perspectives and work by young scholars.

The organisers expect the Congress to become the main academic event of the year for Belarusian studies and an important step toward the institutional development of this research field.

The event will take place on 23–25 September 2011 in Kaunas, Lithuania.
