The first Belarusian Collegium Summer School “European Borderland” has taken place

On 25-28 June, the first Belarusian Collegium Summer School was held near Białystok. It was organised jointly with the Political Sphere Institute and other partners under the title “European Borderland: Political, Historical and Intellectual Models”. More than 50 people took part: students, alumni and lecturers.

Understanding Belarus as part of Europe, cross-border cooperation, and the shared history of Belarus, Lithuania and Poland as part of European history were the main topics discussed over three days. Former and current students heard presentations by well-known Belarusian, Lithuanian and Polish scholars and intellectuals.

The main aim of the school was to deepen intellectual communication, exchange views and ideas, and strengthen international ties. The school took place at the Bora-Zdrój agritourism estate, a few kilometres from the Belarusian border, which suited the school’s theme especially well.

It is planned that the Belarusian Collegium Summer School will become an annual event.
