This publication is an annual comprehensive analysis of the state of affairs in the most important segments of the state and society.
2012 was a period of “inertial” post-crisis development in Belarus.
The economic crisis, as a form of painful release from accumulated macroeconomic imbalances, did not resolve the basic problems of the Belarusian socio-economic model, while the positive effects of the devaluation of the national currency were exhausted already in the first half of the year.
In the absence of a better strategy, the economic authorities returned to the “time-tested” policy of inflationary growth.
All other critical trends were also curtailed by an attempt to restore the previous state of affairs, a return to the earlier policy that had led to the crisis.
