On 27 March, the Belarusian Collegium invites you to an open discussion: “What Do Belarusian Intellectuals Trade In?”

Беларускі Кангрэс

Is the Belarusianness of an intellectual a geographical, linguistic, or mental concept? What is the meaning and purpose of the Belarusian intellectual movement? Do we have a national intellectual elite? If so, why does a country of endless Dazhynki need it? How can an intellectual become visible in the space of the “global comic” (I. Babkou)? What does the domestic intellectual have to sell — and is it worth trading in intellect? Where have the young intellectuals gone?

These and other painful questions will be discussed jointly by prominent figures in the national cultural process.

Participants: philosopher Valiantsin AKUDOVICH, artist and musician Todar KASHKUREVICH, writer and philosopher Ihar BABKOU, philosopher Aliaksandr SARNA, sociologist Lidziya MIKHEEVA. Moderator: Maksim ZHBANKOU.

The discussion will take place on 27 March 2014 at 19:00 at the Ў Gallery. Admission is free.
