International PhD Programme for Belarus (2015 intake)

phd

The Political Sphere Institute, together with Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), the University of Warsaw (Poland) and other partners, announces the fourth intake for the International PhD Programme for Belarus.

The programme is organised as a part-time doctoral track. The doctoral dissertation is written in Belarus; the completed, or largely completed, text is then submitted for defence remotely or as an external candidate at universities in Lithuania, Poland and other European countries. The university for the defence is selected individually, depending on language skills, the dissertation topic and other parameters.

The programme covers the following disciplines: political science, modern history (history of Belarus in the twentieth century), and sociology. In exceptional cases, proposals in literary studies and related disciplines may also be considered.

The programme provides consultations, technical assistance, academic communication in the form of seminars, liaison with a foreign university and representation of the dissertation author’s interests, as well as compensation for defence-related expenses.

The dissertation may be written in Belarusian, Russian, English or Polish. The choice of language depends on the discipline, the dissertation topic and the university where the defence will take place.

The standard duration of study in the programme is three years. The period of study may be shortened or extended on an individual basis.
