Homo Historicus: Call for Papers until 1 May 2015

a publication of the Belarusian Collegium

The “Belarusian Collegium” is resuming publication of the annual journal of anthropological and social history Homo Historicus (editor: Doctor of Historical Sciences Aliaksandr Smalianchuk).

In the new publishing series, the editorial board of the annual is most interested in studies and materials that include

• an anthropological style of thinking in the analysis of the past
• interdisciplinarity and methodological liberation of research on the past through the use of developments in contemporary humanities
• the researcher’s reflection on their own research methods and on the meaning of the knowledge they obtain/create with their help.

The structure of the annual includes:

• studies corresponding to the field of anthropologically oriented and social history;
• translations of articles by foreign researchers
• historical documents
• reviews and surveys of scholarly historical literature, as well as sociological, political science, and cultural studies literature related to the study of the past.
• information about scholarly research, expeditions, conferences, dissertation defences, etc.

 

The dominant theme of Homo Historicus. Volume I (IV) is historical memory in the broadest sense. We welcome texts that address issues of historical policy, historiographical thought, oral history, the memorialisation of urban space, commemoration of ancestors in traditional peasant culture, and related topics.

The subject matter of submissions may also differ from the dominant theme.

Languages of texts: Belarusian, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, and English. Abstracts should be in English and Belarusian. Text length: from 0.5 to 1.0 author’s sheet (20,000-40,000 characters).

All texts are peer reviewed.

Deadline for submission of texts: 1 May 2015.

Requirements for text formatting

Texts should be prepared in MS Word (font: Times New Roman, 12). Margins: top and bottom 2 cm, right 1 cm, left 3 cm.

References should be made using the “footnote” function at the bottom of the page.

Bibliographic information about publications mentioned repeatedly may be shortened. For example, Dubas-Urwanowicz E. Grodno do XVIII wieku…

When using abbreviations, they must be explained the first time they appear.

The names of historical figures and researchers should be given in full. Initials are permitted only when a particular person is mentioned frequently, as well as in references.
