Fifth International Congress of Belarusian Studies (2-4 October 2015, Kaunas, Lithuania): Call for Panel Proposals until 15 March 2015

The Organising Committee announces a call for proposals to create sections (panels) within the Fifth International Congress of Belarusian Studies. The Congress will take place on 2–4 October 2015 in Kaunas (Lithuania). 

Sections (panels) may be devoted to the discussion of specific research problems or to the presentation of results of scholarly activity within individual disciplines or research fields. When accepting submissions, the Organising Committee does not impose strict thematic or disciplinary restrictions, leaving representatives of the academic and expert community the opportunity to articulate their own priorities and interests.

Sections (panels) may be disciplinary, thematic, or highly specialised. Applications are also accepted for sections devoted to current public issues, round tables, workshops, presentations, and so on.

The formation of sections and panels through an open call for proposals allows the International Congress of Belarusian Studies to respond to the expectations and needs of the academic and expert community.

The Organising Committee invites research organisations and communities, as well as academic leaders, to take part in defining the thematic priorities of the next Congress.

An application may be submitted collectively or individually. Interested institutions and organisations may also act as applicants.

The Congress is the most representative annual academic and expert event involving all major intellectual centres for the study of politics, society, and culture of Belarus. In addition, the Congress offers an excellent opportunity to develop new viable research and public projects, exchange opinions and ideas, and establish informal contacts with representatives of expert and academic communities in Belarus and other countries.
The mission of the Congress is to develop a community of scholars, analysts, and experts, and to promote a deeper understanding of Belarus in the academic and public environment of the country, the region, and the world.
The Congress was founded in 2010 by a consortium of Belarusian and Lithuanian organisations. In 2014, more than 400 people from 23 countries took part in it.
