Discussion “Did the national-cultural movements of the 1980s influence the formation of independent Belarus?” on 16 May

afisha_novOn 16 May, the Belarusian Collegium invites you to the discussion “Did the national-cultural movements of the 1980s influence the formation of independent Belarus?

As part of the 4th Minsk International Conference of the Political Sphere Institute, “Beyond the Soviet Canon: Political Resistance, Academic and Artistic Autonomy in the Late Soviet Period (1960s-1980s)”, a discussion will be held on the influence of the national-cultural movements of the 1980s on the formation of independent Belarus.

The collapse of the Soviet Union is usually associated with the crisis of the all-Union system and the loss of the Communist Party’s monopolistic control over political and social processes. Yet social movements that advanced national-cultural demands also undoubtedly contributed to this process.

Participants: Vintsuk Viachorka, Siarhei Dubavets, Iryna Dubianetskaya and Andrei Kazakevich.

The discussion will take place on 16 May at 14:00 at Gallery Ў, 37a Independence Avenue.

Admission is free!
