Congress Award for the Best Academic Publication in 2011–2012 (Deadline: 20 February 2013)

 

Main idea and mission:

The Organising Committee of the International Congress of Belarusian Studies announces the establishment of an annual award for the best publication in the field of social sciences and humanities during the year.

The award aims to recognise achievements in the social sciences and humanities during the year, encourage scholarly work, and contribute to improving the quality of academic activity.

We invite authors and representatives of the academic community to nominate significant results of scholarly activity and thereby contribute to their popularisation and to rewarding authors for academic achievements.

The official award ceremony, as well as a monetary prize of at least EUR 400 for each winner, will take place at the Third International Congress of Belarusian Studies, to be held on 11–13 October 2013.

 

Nominations:

The award is announced in three categories:

– Social sciences: political science, sociology.

– Humanities: philosophy, philology, linguistics, art studies.

– History.

Publications in law and economics are accepted for consideration only if they are interdisciplinary in character and address issues relevant to the main social-science and humanities disciplines.

Both one’s own publications and publications by others may be nominated for the award.

 

Procedure:

The decision to award the prize is made on the basis of the conclusion of a Council composed of representatives of the academic community of Belarus and other countries (at least 11 experts for each category).

The first award is given for works published in 2011–2012. The main requirements are: a text of at least 20,000 characters (an academic article, monograph or another academic form of presenting research results), written by one or several authors (but under the scholarly editorship of one person).

 

The results of the competition will be announced in early June 2013.
