Belarusian Translations of the Works of Thinker Ivan Illich Published

With the participation of the Institute “Political Sphere”, another book in the “Green Letter” series has been published. The volume includes two works by the well-known thinker Ivan Illich (1926-2002), “Energy and Equity” and “Tools for Conviviality”.

The works are devoted to the search for an optimal level of technology for modern society, one that, on the one hand, would help avoid ecological and social catastrophe and, on the other, ensure an acceptable standard of living and sufficient freedoms for all. In “Energy and Equity”, the author examines this through the example of transport; in “Tools for Conviviality”, medicine, education and other spheres of life are also considered.

The book is addressed to readers interested in social philosophy, supporters of “slow life”, environmental activists, opponents of North American and Western European imperialism, as well as a broad readership.

Ivan Illich’s works are being translated into Belarusian for the first time.
