A Belarusian Translation of Serhii Plokhy’s Book Has Been Published

ARCHE publishing house has released the Belarusian translation of a book by the well-known Ukrainian historian and Harvard University professor Serhii Plokhy, “Russian Babylon: Premodern Identities in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus”.

The book was first published under the title “The Origins of the Slavic Nations. Premodern Identities inRussia,UkraineandBelarus” by Cambridge University Press in 2006. The monograph traces the origins of the modern Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian nations, with a particular focus on premodern forms of group identity among the East Slavs. The book covers the period from the Christianisation of Kyivan Rus in the tenth century to the eighteenth century, when ideas of modern nationalism became influential among local elites.
