Among the “collective peacekeeping forces” of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which were sent to Kazakhstan, as stated, “for a limited period of time to stabilize and normalize the situation”, are Belarusian military personnel.

The contingent from Belarus arrived in Kazakhstan on 7 January and “began carrying out its assigned tasks”, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense reports.

For the Belarusian military, this is the first experience in the history of independent Belarus of participating in operations of this scale.
