Experts on the decision not to open polling stations abroad: “Everyone understands what relocated Belarusians and migrants will mark on their ballots”

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided not to open polling stations abroad for voting during the referendum on constitutional amendments, citing “the insignificant number of citizens registered with consulates” and the need “not to put the health of staff and voters at risk.”
“Those who are temporarily abroad will be able to vote at their place of registration in Belarus, while those permanently residing abroad with a PP-series passport will be able to vote at a polling station at the place of temporary registration or the last place of residence in the Republic of Belarus.

We remind you that there are no restrictions for Belarusian citizens entering the country either through land or air border crossings; a PCR test is not required for our citizens to enter,” Anatoly Glaz, spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told BelTA (https://www.belta.by/society/view/mid-vo-vremja-referenduma-izbiratelnye-uchastki-za-rubezhom-otkryvat-ne-planiruetsja-482611-2022/).
