Call for Individual Applications for the 10th Congress

Dear colleagues!

The Organizing Committee of the International Congress of Belarusian Studies announces the call for individual applications to participate in the jubilee 10th Congress, which will take place from September 30 to October 2, 2022 in Kaunas, Lithuania.

In 2022, the Congress will work across 13 research areas (https://www.icbs.by/program-2022), which include all major social-science and humanities disciplines: history, international relations and political science, sociology, linguistics, literary studies, and others.

The Congress is the most representative annual academic and expert event on Belarus, bringing together all the main intellectual centers engaged in the study of society, politics, and culture in Belarus.

In addition, the Congress offers an excellent opportunity to develop new viable research and public projects, exchange views and ideas, and establish informal contacts with representatives of expert and academic communities in Belarus and other countries.

The mission of the Congress is to develop the community of scholars, analysts, and experts, and to promote a deeper understanding of Belarus in academic circles in the country, the region, and the world.

To participate in the Congress as a speaker, please fill out the ONLINE FORM (https://palityka.wufoo.com/forms/registration-form-for-speakers-2022/) and submit an abstract of 2,000-4,000 characters.

Deadline: May 15, 2022.

Only one application may be submitted for participation in the Congress; presenting two papers is not possible.

In support of Ukraine, which is heroically resisting Russian military aggression, all participants from Ukraine and Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their country because of the war are exempt from paying the registration fee.

Participants from Belarus and Belarusians who have suffered from the war in Ukraine or politically motivated repression in Belarus, as well as those who have taken a principled position on these issues, are also exempt from the fee.

The call for applications for guests and journalists, as well as for organizing presentations of scholarly, cultural, publishing, and other projects, will be announced later.

Sincerely,
The Organizing Committee
