The Idea of Modern Lithuania

The Political Sphere Institute, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Belarus and representatives of the Lithuanian academic community, is beginning work on the publication of an “Anthology of Lithuanian Political Thought of the Late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Centuries” in Belarusian.

The anthology is expected to include texts by the most significant representatives of the Lithuanian political and cultural movement, who formulated in concentrated form the idea of the Lithuanian nation, statehood, culture and history, and who also reflected the aims and strategy of the Lithuanian “rebirth” (atgimimas).

The anthology will allow the Belarusian reader to gain a deeper understanding of Lithuanian history and culture, the idea of modern Lithuanian statehood, and will also open broad opportunities for comparing the intellectual history of the Belarusian and Lithuanian movements.

The anthology is scheduled for publication in spring 2012.
