Review of Research and Analytical Publications

The lack of systematic reviewing of scholarly and analytical publications has been noted repeatedly by Belarusian intellectuals and analysts. In state publications, reviewing functions as a ritual. Independent information resources correct this situation to some extent; nevertheless, most books and articles remain unreviewed. The same applies to works about Belarus, published outside the country. The problem remains and requires a solution.

Therefore, beginning on 23 May 2011, the Political Sphere Institute is launching the project “Review of Research and Analytical Publications”. The project will take the form of short critical reviews published on the website www.palityka.org with an indication of the main strengths and weaknesses of each publication. Extended reviews of the most significant publications will be prepared for the journal “Political Sphere”.

The main focus of the reviews will be Belarusian publications (research, analytical, intellectual), as well as publications about Belarus and the region of Central and Eastern Europe, regardless of the language or country of publication. The thematic priorities are politics, culture, history, and society. As a rule, publications no older than two years will be reviewed.

Reviews will be published at least twice a week (Monday and Thursday).
