One Month Remains Until the Opening of the Second International Congress of Belarusian Studies

The Second International Congress of Belarusian Studies

The Second International Congress of Belarusian Studies will take place on 28–30 September 2012 in Kaunas, Lithuania.

The Congress organising committee has received an unprecedented number of applications: more than 400. Participants include researchers from Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, Canada, France, Finland, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Japan, Moldova, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden and the United States.

Among them are the well-known British Slavist Arnold McMillin, the Slavist, translator and chair of the Anglo-Belarusian Society Jim Dingley, the Lithuanian historian and former MEP Vytautas Landsbergis, and many other scholars and experts working on Belarusian studies and the wider region.

The Congress will include panels, presentations, public discussions and meetings of research networks. Its aim is to strengthen the community of scholars, analysts and experts working on Belarus and to support a deeper understanding of Belarus in academic circles in the country, the region and the world.
