NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR BELARUSIANS

(the case of Vytautas Magnus University)

Contemporary higher education has long ceased to be geographically closed. Opportunities to find one’s path in life, profession or vocation extend far beyond the borders of a particular city or country. The system of higher education in Europe is becoming increasingly open and mobile. Today’s student has access both to a diversity of professions, fields of activity and ways of thinking, and to a diversity of forms and methods of obtaining an education.

But in order to make use of this diversity of choice, one must first know about it.

• What are the principal features of higher education in contemporary Europe and Lithuania?
• What opportunities does this open up for Belarusians?

 

On 19 April 2013, Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania), with the support of the Flying University and information support from “EuroBelarus”, is organising a public lecture in Minsk, “Contemporary Higher Education in Lithuania: New Opportunities for Belarusians”. During the lecture, Dr Kęstutis Bartkevičius (Kestas Bartkevicius) and Dr Jurga Jonutytė will speak about the experience of Vytautas Magnus University and opportunities to obtain contemporary education in Lithuania, including for Belarusians. The lecture will take place in the conference hall of the Crowne Plaza hotel (13 Kirova St.), starting at 18:00.

Special attention will be paid to programmes in social and political sciences taught in English. These fields are the main feature that distinguishes Vytautas Magnus University among other Lithuanian universities: it is here that the most innovative schools and research directions are being created, aimed at a multifaceted study of contemporary Europe and global processes. At the same time, educational practices correspond to the university’s diverse scholarly activity.

The lecture will present the content of around ten programmes in social sciences and humanities, and there will be an opportunity to learn more about various technical details concerning admission, studies and scholarship opportunities.

We invite university lecturers, postgraduate and undergraduate students, school teachers and pupils, and all interested persons. Admission is free.
