FLYING UNIVERSITY

PROGRAMME FOR 2013–2014

13 September, 18:00–22:30, Ў Gallery, Lohvinaŭ bookstore

It is quite easy to tell a person about things that can be defined, measured or imagined in a more or less concrete way. If we are speaking about space, it has its square metres; if about time, its minutes, hours, days and years; if about a route, its distance. It is much harder to convey something that cannot be reduced to a direct definition or measurement.

The Flying University is precisely such a phenomenon. It is not only a set of lectures or courses. It is an intellectual community, an educational environment and an attempt to create a space for free thought, discussion and responsibility.

The new programme for 2013–2014 will be presented on 13 September. The presentation will introduce the main directions of work, educational formats, courses, public lectures and research initiatives planned for the academic year.

The organisers will speak about the idea of the Flying University, its previous experience and the principles on which the programme is built. Participants will be able to learn how to join the courses, take part in public events and become involved in the University’s intellectual life.

The event will take place at Ў Gallery and the Lohvinaŭ bookstore from 18:00 to 22:30. Everyone interested in independent education, Belarusian intellectual life and new forms of academic communication is invited.
