International Conference: “Belarusianisation. Can the Process of Institutional Construction of an Independent State Be Completed?” Registration until 20 November
On 22 November 2013, the international conference “Belarusianisation. Can the Process of Institutional Construction of an Independent State Be Completed?” will take place in Minsk.
The conference is organised by the Centre for European Transformation (Belarus) with the support of the International Consortium “EuroBelarus” (Lithuania, Belarus) and the Heinrich Böll Foundation (Germany). The event will bring together experts on transformation processes from Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.
The aim of the event is to identify key problems and deepen understanding of the reasons why a number of post-Soviet countries and peoples resist transformation processes in the twenty-first century. Whereas last year’s international conference addressed conceptual, theoretical and practical issues of de-Sovietisation, this year we focus on the problems of completing the institutional construction of independent states. For Belarus, this complex process of forming a modern nation, including the establishment of new social and state institutions, can traditionally be described by the term “Belarusianisation”.
