4th International Congress of Belarusian Studies (3-5 October 2014, Kaunas, Lithuania): Call for panel proposals until 20 March 2014

The Organising Committee announces a call for applications to create sections (panels) within the 4th International Congress of Belarusian Studies. The Congress will take place on 3-5 October 2014 in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Sections (panels) may be devoted to the discussion of specific research problems or to the presentation of scholarly results within particular disciplines or research fields. When submitting proposals, the Organising Committee does not set strict thematic or disciplinary limits, leaving representatives of the academic and expert community free to articulate their own priorities and interests.

Sections (panels) may be disciplinary, thematic, or highly specialised. Applications are also accepted for sections addressing current public issues, round tables, master classes, presentations, and similar formats.

Forming sections and panels through an open call allows the International Congress of Belarusian Studies to respond to the expectations and needs of the academic and expert community.

The Organising Committee invites research organisations and communities, as well as academic leaders, to take part in defining the thematic priorities of the next Congress.

Applications may be submitted collectively or individually. Interested institutions and organisations may also act as applicants.

The Congress is the most representative annual academic and expert event involving all major intellectual centres that study the politics, society and culture of Belarus. In addition, the Congress provides an excellent opportunity to develop new viable research and public projects, exchange views and ideas, and establish informal contacts with representatives of expert and academic communities in Belarus and other countries.
The mission of the Congress is to develop a community of scholars, analysts and experts, and to contribute to a deeper understanding of Belarus in academic and public environments in the country, the region and the world.
The Congress was founded in 2010 by a consortium of Belarusian and Lithuanian organisations. In 2013, around 400 people from 16 countries took part in it.
