Call for Nominations for the Congress Award for Best Publication (submissions by 15 April 2015)

The Organising Committee of the International Congress of Belarusian Studies announces a call for nominations for the Award for Best Publication in the field of social sciences and humanities published in 2013-2014.

The purpose of the award is to recognise achievements in the social sciences and humanities over the year, encourage scholarly work, and contribute to improving the quality of academic research.

We invite authors and representatives of the academic community to nominate significant results of scholarly activity and thereby help promote them and reward authors for their academic achievements.

The award ceremony will take place at the Fifth International Congress of Belarusian Studies, to be held on 2-4 October 2015.

Nominations:

The award is announced in three categories:

– Social Sciences: political science, sociology.

– Humanities: philosophy, philology, linguistics, art studies.

– History.

Publications in law and economics are accepted for consideration only if they are interdisciplinary and address issues central to the social sciences and humanities.

Since last year, monographs and articles have been evaluated in separate competitions.

Since 2014, the Humanities Award has been merged with the Zora Kipel Award, previously awarded by the North American Association for Belarusian Studies.

Both one’s own publications and publications by other authors may be nominated.

Procedure:

The decision to award the prize is made on the basis of assessments by expert councils composed of representatives of the academic community of Belarus and other countries.

Works published in 2014, as well as works published in 2013 if they were not nominated in the previous competition, are accepted for consideration. The main requirements are: a text of at least 20,000 characters (a scholarly article, monograph, or another academic form of presenting research results), written by one, two, or several authors (in the case of a collective of authors, the work must be edited academically by one person).
