Condolences to the family and friends of Uladzimir Abushenka

On 27 September, Uladzimir Abushenka, our friend and colleague, passed away.

Uladzimir Abushenka was one of the leading sociologists in Belarus and made a major contribution to the development of theoretical sociology, cultural sociology and the sociology of knowledge. He was a legendary lecturer at Belarusian State University, where he educated a generation of talented students. Since 2002, Uladzimir Abushenka had worked as Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

From the founding of the journal “Political Sphere”, Uladzimir Abushenka was a member of its academic council; he was also a member of the board of Belarusian Political Science Review and served on the expert council of the Prize of the International Congress of Belarusian Studies.
