International PhD programme for Belarus, 2015 call

Institute “Political Sphere” in cooperation with Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), University of Warsaw (Poland) and other partners announces the fourth application call for International PhD program for Belarus.

The program is based on extramural study. The candidates write their theses in Belarus, and completed text is submitted for defence in the universities of Lithuania, Poland and other European countries. The choice of university for defending a thesis is carried out on an individual basis, depending on the language competence, dissertation topics, and other parameters.

The program covers the following subjects: political science, contemporary history (the history of the twentieth century Belarus), sociology. In exceptional cases submissions in literature and related disciplines can be considered.

The program provides counsulting, technical assistance, academic communication in the form of seminars, links with foreign universities and promotion of the interests of the author’s thesis, compensation of defence costs, including honoraria for Belarusian and foreign consultants and university fees for the defence.

The text of the thesis can be in Belarusian, Russian, English and Polish. Language selection depends on the discipline, the theme of the dissertation and the university, which will host the defence.

Standard training term on program is three years. The term can be reduced or extended on an individual basis.

Requirements for candidates:

Completed higher education (specialist’s or master’s degree).

Knowledge of Belarusian and Russian languages on the level sufficient to understand lectures and write texts. Knowledge of English is an asset.

The presence of scientific, expert or analytical publications.

Applications will be accepted until November 15, 2015 in electronic form to the email [email protected]. The results will be announced within a month.

  1. CV with a photograph indicating the education, professional experience, publications and other relevant information.

2.Motivation letter in a free form max 2 pages long.

3.Brief research project, which should include: subject, description of the research problem, research plan, bibliography (max 10 positions). The project should be no longer than 5 pages 5 pages.
